The Trickle Down Effect of vegetarianism

Hello all!

I am enjoying reading the introductions, questions, and responses. I

always learn something new! I noticed a few posts about hubby's and

kids that aren't necessarily vegetarian, but agree to go along with

it because they don't want to cook - thus, the Trickle Down Effect!

It's so great! I used to get frustrated and wonder why I should

bother being vegetarian because how could ONE person make a

difference. But, we make an impact all over. I think of all of the

dinner parties that I've had where everything that was served was

vegetarian. That's at least one night that week that my friend's or

family did not eat meat, and they would have if they were at home. I

think that's great! It is easy for me at home - my hubby is

voluntarily vegetarian. We are veggie for health and for planetary

reasons, but whatever your reason - welcome! :-)

I decided about 4 months ago to go ahead and quit

eating meat, after thinking about it for some time,

and with the support of my family there is now no meat

in the house. The kids and my husband do eat what they

choose away from the house, but they all respect that

I do not want meat at home. So, they all eat veggie

with me, and when friends come over, so do they. I

have noticed that many are very open to it. We

recently went camping with a very carnivore friend who

decided for me that he would not eat meat on the trip.

It works for us.

Oh, and since I finally decided to quit lurking, my

name is Misty, and I live in Fort Worth Texas. If

anyone is in the area, there is a great article in

Fort Worth Child magazine (www.fortworthchild.com)

about " Should your family go vegetarian? " Thought I

would share. Thank you to everyone for their great

recipes and ideas, I look forward to many more!!

Yeah, definately. Isn't it wonderful?

My family is omnivore, but they eat many more

vegetarian meals than they do meals which include

dead animals.

i also enjoy taking vegetarian food to parties and

serving it when we have guests visiting.

People are always so curious, and it is wonderful to get

them to try new things and new ways of thinking about

serving food. :)

Way better than " trickle down economics " , eh? *lol*
