Guest guest
I’ve bought a lot of LightLife Smart menu products, especially the “chick’n” strips. Yesterday I saw a ground “beef” substitute from them in taco/burrito style. I’m not usually a fan of the ground beef substitutes, but this was really very good. The seasonings were great, and the texture seemed right. It was a little dry (because they’re low fat products, they recommend cooking in a non-stick pan and not using oil), but I added a bit of left over enchilada sauce to moisten it a little bit, and it was wonderful. Their deli slices are quite good, and the pepperoni is the only one I use on my pizzas. The only one I’ve really not liked is the hot dog substitute (but I’ve never found one of those that I like). These are the folks who make Gimme Lean products as well (another of my favourites). If you have these products available, they’re worth a try. Guest guest
I use the taco flavor and make green chile enchildas (jusy add some rice and beans inside them too) and also soft tacos with it. A great, tasty, fast meal. Sherri <sherria wrote:I’ve bought a lot of LightLife Smart menu products, especially the “chick’n” strips. Guest guest
Thanks for the tips, Sherri. i have used the veggie ground before from LightLife Smart Menu before, but have yet to try the " chicken " type strips or the preseasoned ground " beef " . i will keep a look out for them. Have you tried Melissa brand before? i once bought the chicken style strips but i ended up chickening out on actually putting them in a recipe; they just smelled weird and i tasted one and it was odd. i like Melissa brand soyrizo a lot though. For chicken style meat substitutes i like Quorn brand and the breaded patties from Boca or MSF. For hotdogs... well, i am sort of like you; haven't found a " dog " that can stand on its own in flavor. But i enjoy most brands smothered in chili or other toppings. Quorn, Smart Menu, MSF, Worthington, Yves, you name it, i've likely tried it on my quest for the perfect pooch. *lol* ~ pt ~ If a dog will not come to you after having looked you in the face, you should go home and examine your conscience. ~ Woodrow Wilson ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~> , Sherri <sherria@o...> wrote: > I've bought a lot of LightLife Smart menu products, especially the > " chick'n " strips. Quorn tenders, and garlic/herb cutlets are great. I also like the Quorn roasts; prefer them to Tofurkey for holidays like Thanksgiving, etc. The omnivoires in my life agree that the Quorn roasts have a better texture, not so rubbery as Tofurkey. > For hotdogs... well, i am sort of like you; haven't found > a " dog " that can stand on its own in flavor. I’ll have to give them another try. Thanks for the suggestion! -- Sherri " This seems like a case where we need to shoot the messenger.
