Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

2 large vine ripened tomatoes

1 cup raisina

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon molasses

1 tablespoon tamari soy sauce

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring

10 sundried tomatoes -- optional

The sundried tomatoes are optional because they are so expensive and sometimes

hard to find. If you use them, they give the sauce a richer taste, but it will

also be fine without them. If you use them, soak the sundried tomatoes in just

enough water to cover them for about 2 hours before beginning. Then combine all

of the ingredients in a food processor, using the S blade, processing until it

reaches a thick sauce-like consistency.

This can be used as a stand alone sauce or as an ingredient in other recipes,

such as Nutmeat (page 132). It's best if it has a chance to rest for at least a

couple of hours before you use it.

NOTES : Here's a delicious homemade uncooked barbecue sauce that you can use

with any recipe that calls for barbecue sauce, or as an ingredient in dishes

like Nutmeat (page 132). Once you get the hang of it, you can doctor it up any

way you want by adding your favorite ingredients.
