I didn't know they didn't use the term creche over there, I think it's a French word, it has an accent (a grave not an acute) over the first e, but I don't know how to type French accents. It's a gathering place for kiddies when there parents are doing other stuff - like some work-places have a creche where workers leave their children during the day while working.
