Guest guest
- Exactly It’s a bit much when those at the top of the religious tree can't even stick to the rules. Most of the ordinary peasants religious and non religious probably stuck to the christian rules better than their leaders. And it seems to me that veg'ans live a more " christian " life style than most church goerseven tho' many are atheists/agnostics Laughable really _ I think my favourite example of a Pope ignoring the rules of his own religion due to his own preferences was Boniface VIII, who stated that " homosexuality is no more a sin than rubbing your hands together " . While I don't disagree with him, it wasn't the usual attitude preached by the church! BB Peter - --- Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
Some greek Philosophers managed it didn't they . I would have thought Jesus of all people should have done no less Then his talk (or his fathers ! ) of compassion would have made more sense How do you compare? Based on our meat eating habits - maybe. On many other criteria, probably not. Also, considering the time and place Jesus lived, it would have been much harder (although not impossible) to be veggie. Guest guest
Hi Angie > Some greek Philosophers managed it didn't they . I would have thought > Jesus of all people should have done no less I agree - I'm just saying that I believe people should always be judged as much on their circumstances as on their actions. Although one or two Greek philosophers managed to be vegetarian, they were a very rare exception. But as I've said before, I see Jesus as a revolutionary trying to usher in the Jewish kingdom as prophesied in the OT, not so much as a compassionate teacher.
