Guest guest
Erica Sudden cange in food patterns and food habits are a problem for all and especially kids. We should not be very worried about the food they have eaten and expect teh sudden change in their attitudes to life. First the word " it is sin to kill animals " or do anything is to be left off from the jargon to the children. We should counsel them not as counselling but as your experiences. The effect is slow but sure. The first target to emulate is the mother and your counselling helps. You have to simply say " taste is a matter of palate and the body should be given what is good for it to grow and sustain. You shud give some examples to the effect that the children already saw in you. For example you can say you have become slimmer without much exercise and you could also say , you have not fallen sick for such a long time due to your food habits. Once in a way delinquency by childern should be ignored and a suggestion may be given after the even and after good health restores that the cause of earlier sickness is the food eaten( beef/meet) eaten by them. I am sure i tried to write answer to the problem. m.s.sastry , ArizonaMommyOf3 wrote: > > sorry I didn't back to you I have been busy working in my yard and stuff > with the kids. Guest guest
Dear m.a. sastry,I very much like your response to Erica and how she can discuss vegetarianism with her children. Your points made sense to me, and seem a gentle and reasonable approach to children. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Guest guest
I was never a big meat eater when I was younger either so I'm not surprised I ended up vegetarian; what I am surprised about is that it took me so long! :-) That's good that your youngest will eat fruits/veggies; she'll have a head start by enjoying a variety of healthy foods so young! My oldest (10) says no way when I asked him if he would ever stop eating meat, my youngest son (8)says yes he wants to stop eating meat. My youngest (4), I don't really think it will be a big deal to her if she stop eating meat (to me its a big deal and to all the animals). What ever I eat she eats with me. When I buy her a happy meal when we go to town she wont eat the hamburger, she is interested in eating my beans and rice. When we have lettice in the house she will get a handfull of that and eats it, well any fruit or veggie for that matter. When I was younger I was never a real big meat eater.
