Guest guest
Welcome Angela! How long have you been veg this time around? I was never a big meat eater but I only turned vegetarian about 4 years ago and haven't missed it or looked back. Aren't pets great? My partner and I have Jack, our fabulous dog, and our 2 kitties, Luna & Ivy Noel who keep us entertained and loved. :-) Cindi, co-owner of group with Pat " Angela K. I've been a vegetarian/vegan/veggie-wannabe off-and-on since I was 13 and the Hare Krishnas were handing out copies of The Higher Taste at the St. Louis Zoo. :-) I'm trying it again at the age of 32 to lose weight but more importantly improve my health and reaffirm my love for animals (I am the guardian of a super-spoiled yet perfect kitty named Jackie). Looking forward to lots of new ideas! AKM ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Angela K. Guest guest
Ha! Only a week, but it seems to be so easy for me to slip into back into the veggie lifestyle. I've been almost completely vegan these past 6-7 days (except I took one bite of pork steak, which I am thrilled to report tasted gross!). My biggest obstacle is always preparation and planning ahead, but I'm determined to be better at stocking my pantry/fridge/freezer so I don't succomb to the lure of the drive-thru. Yes, our animals are so vital to our lives, aren't they? That's a big part of the veggie lifestyle for me...a cow doesn't die any easier than my Jackie would, so why on earth should I think that's acceptable? As k.d. lang has said, why do we think some animals are pets and some are food? *Sigh*...anyway, I'm trying to be fully committed this time around, and I think my only obstacle, like I said, is planning ahead. Hopefully I'll get creative in the kitchen and have some good low-fat recipes to contribute here eventually! AKM Cindi <cindi93069 wrote: Welcome Angela! How long have you been veg this time around? Guest guest
Hey, a week is a start! :-) Yes, it is much easier to stick with eating healthy if you have a game plan and know what you're going to eat for the week. I do that; we get produce delivered and I find recipes that work with those veggies and plan them out for the week. I try to throw a couple simpler meals in the mix so I'm not always spending an hour+ making our dinner. It seems to really help to have it all planned that way. See if you can start with planning out a couple/few days and graduating up to the week. Looking forward to your recipes when you get them together! Cindi " Angela K.
