Guest guest
Dear Melissa, It is strange that u speak about to switching to vegetarianism as if some one is asking you to fast. The number of vegetables, fruits and herbs and leaves are 100s of times more than the handful of the animal stuff. call it beaf, port, lamb meat or poultry or egg. First leave the thought that u are taking to vegetarianism for becoming slim. Then how do u explain HIppopotumus and other communities or even the elephants that are fat. If purpose of being a vegetarian is due to the fact that you dont want to make your stomach a graveyard for the carcasses.. it is very easy to start. Dont bother what your other family members eat. You eat the vegetables and other vegetatrian food. For the time being leave the diary alone. Consume diary items till you first get accustomed to your main meal. Take my suggestion and it will be easy Thanks for reading and i am sure i can explain. For me these are not difficult since I am from India and vegetarianism is within the religious system where some sects who indulge in the spiritual life are forbidden from taking non vegetarian food and the entire family abstains from from nonveg as and ordain best wishes m.s.sastry , " Melissa Parker " <DragonflyTat2 wrote: > > * your name or nickname Melissa > > * where you live (continent, region or city, whatever) Alabama > > * your age group - teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, > 70s, 80s or more (congratulations!)? 38 > Also: > * Are you vegetarian (or vegan), still working at > it, or still thinking about it? Good point Well you know sometimes I have to remind myself (although I'm not Melissa) that this group was started back in 2003 by Laura who was a member of another vegetarian group (as were other first members like myself) and Laura felt that there WAS NO veggie group that addressed the problem of what to do if vegetarians gained too much weight. So here is Vegetarian Slimming in response to that problem! Now I never became vegetarian to get slim - didn't need to way back when that happened around 1980 - and I didn't do it for my health eitherl. I did it because I didn't want to be guilty of eating animals. I still do it for that reason. However, there ARE ways that vegetarianism can not only contribute to better health and do it through cutting down on the less healthy and more fattening aspects of some people's idea of a vegetarian way of eating. We try to promote healthier, less fattier, less junk-foodie, way of eating here through fewer processed foods and more healthy fresh things from the markets etc. As for depriving oneself by becoming vegetarian - that's funny, isn't it Once you take the dead animal flesh off the table, it leaves room for such wonderful vegetables, grains and legumes that are so delicious in their own right! Thanks for mentioning this - this was not originally (at least) intended as a group for non-vegetarians to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle in order to lose weight (and then, presumably, to return to their old ways of non-vegetarianism once that was accomplished). It was for those people who were vegetarian and, like the elephants and hippopotami, had dined a little too lavishly on the bounties of nature and needed to find ways of getting a little more close to a healthy weight Huge hugs and love, Pat ---- BeanVegan Food Blog: http://beanvegan.blogspot.com Raw Vegan: http://www.care2.com/c2crAw_vEgAn Vegetarian Spice: Vegan World Cuisine: http://www.care2.com/c2cvegworld Vegetarian Slimming: vegetarianslimming Vegetarians In Canada: vegetariansincanada How Far Would You Go For . . .: http://www.care2.comlocallife Fruitarian: http://www.care2.comfruitarian Antispeciesism: http://www.care2.comantispecisism " Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories and are called medical research.
