Perhaps you know your so-called counsellor best But for the record, since not all members are necessarily familiar with Dr Barnard and the two organizations you have brought under discussion, I should clarify: Dr Barnard is a reputable physician in his own right - quite apart from his being President of PCRM. The Advisory Board of the PCRM group has three very well known medical doctors on it - Drs Esselstyn, McDougall, and Weil - among others. These three are known to people on this group from their excellent books on health and diet What other books do people know which advocate a vegetarian diet for diabetes or, even better, speak directly to diabetes for the whole book (as the book mentioned above does)? I know both McDougall and Fuhrman do (because I just looked them up in my own copies of _The McDougall Plan_ and _Eat to Live_ respectively) - and of course Barnard's other books. Interested. Guest guest
Two other books come to mind. " Defeating Diabetes A No-Nonsense Approach to Type 2 Diabetes and the Diabesity Epidemic " by Brenda Davis, RD and Tom Barnard, MD, is all about diabetes and a plant based diet. " The Vegetarian Way " by Virginia Messina, MPH, RD and Mark Messina, PhD has an excellent chapter on diabetes. Both books are packed with great info and some good recipes to boot.
