I have over 1000 now which I just recently organized as well as I could, lol! I have been diabetic for 14 years and (mostly) vegetarian for over a year. I also dropped 50 lbs over the last 2 years and have about 50 more to go so we have a bunch in common. I know how important exercise is, but have some physical limitations that make it difficult (including being allergic to the E word,<G>). I do my best. My glucose readings are just slightly south of normal, so I still have some work to do. Thanks for the links, most I am familiar list, but have some more surfing to do. I hope that some of the newly diagnosed diabetics will find the links and the books helpful. I'll keep my eyes open for more. Leslie - Marie Rieuwers Hi Leslie, I am sure that I have a vegetarian diabetic cookbook somewhere with an interesting introduction but I can't lay my hands on it at the moment. I have cookbooks all over the house (collecting them is my hobby) and I'm not quite sure where to look. When I come across it I'll give you the details. Here are a few sites I found by doing a quick Google search. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes two years ago and my nurse is amazed at how good all my test results are now. I have been a vegetarian for longer than I care to remember and the nurse is sure that my diet contributes significantly to my good test results. Despite being vegetarian I was (and still am) significantly overweight but I have lost about 50 pounds since being diagnosed and still have almost that much again to lose. I have not yet been able to make the switch to a completely vegan diet but I have cut down significantly on dairy products and other fats and I only have about 1 egg a week now. Other changes I have made are reducing portion sizes and doing much more exercise than I ever did before. To be perfectly honest with you, I did virtually no exercise for 60 years so I have a lot of catching up to do!! http://www.vrg.org/journal/diabetes.htm http://www.veggieheadonline.com/diabetes.html http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12936955 http://www.anti-diabetes-diet-supplements.com/diabetic-vegetarian-diet.html Cheers from Marie in Haarlem, Netherlands . --\ ------------------- Panda Antivirus 2007 has detected that this email could be spoofed Take maximum precautions, as spoofed emails could be the sign of a fraud attempt. --\ -------------------
