Guest guest
http://www.veggiehealth.org/page30.htm The Hopi tribe of Arizona have lived on a traditional vegan diet, mostly of calico corn, for 1,500 years. In 1974 they were reported to be having only one case of cancer per thousand people. The white population in Arizona were having one case of cancer in four. Close by to the Hopi are the Pueblo Indians. The Federal Department of Indian Affairs at that time decided (at great cost to the taxpayers) to improve the diet of the Pueblo Indians. Food stamps were given to them and food markets were established where they could live on the high meat diet of the white population of the US. It was not long before the cases of cancer among them had increased from one in a thousand to one in four, the same as among their white neighbours. The Hopi tribe, having seen the devastation caused by the western meat diet understandably declined the same offer from the government to " improve " their diet, and to this day still resist this influence in the interests of their people's health.
