Guest guest
I have an old Sears stainless pressure cooker, 6 quart, holds 4 pint canning jars. I am almost 80 yrs old and don't want to buy an expensive veggie steamer nor another appliance to clutter up already overflowing counters and storage areaS and want to try steaming without microwave and plastic. My glass covered bowls allow juices to mess up the microwave rotisserie. I prepare a lot of meals by cooking enough vegetables for about 6 servings of each of 4 vegetables, then put each serving is small storage container, usually plastic bowls. and freeze. I do not put a lot of seasoning until ready to prepare servings so can have a choice of tastes. Now to the question: can I pressure these in the jars like I used to do for caning? I know it is ridiculous, but I've forgotten how! I am a bit memory challenged and don't want to mess up <G> Thought it would be safe as I also used to use one ( a much older model) to sterilized my babies bottles. Any suggestions very appreciated.
