Guest guest
Hi! My name is Gina. I'm a 30-something wife and mother to two girls, ages 2 & 4 that I am raising as vegetarian, like myself. (We eat no meat, fish or chicken, but drink milk, eat dairy products and eat eggs.) I became a vegetarian about 5 or 6 years ago but ate some fish and chicken during each pregnancy because I was so new and still felt unsure about how well I was doing and didn't want my babies to suffer. I'm becoming more confident as I learn more and as I get them to eat more of a variety of protein, but I can always use more support and ideas! My husband will eat the vegetarian meals I prepare - mostly anything but tofu (unless I hide it in the food but still likes a steak or burger when we eat out. He's relatively supportive of me, even supportive of raising our girls vegetarian as long as they are getting good nutrition. Unlike all the vegetarians I know, I'm overweight (because I also like sweets and full fat cheese, etc. - which I'm working on). Living in the south doesn't help because even if I can resist fried chicken, there's fried corn on the cob, fried green tomatoes, and potatoes with lots of butter and cream gravy to steer away from! I look forward to sharing ideas and support with y'all! Thanks for letting me join! Gina
