i to have a thyroid problem..i started the Burn the fat feed the

muscle program in may 05 by the body builder tom ventuo this involves

eating correctly and working out. i was 176lbs i did lose some

weight by watching what i eat..no sugar sodas...

it was not until i changed my thyroid med from synthroid to armour

that i was able to lose weight, i have went from a size 14 to 134 pds

and a size 6/8. you can read more info on the

http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ site, i also belong to the

natural thyroid group.

before armour, i would have to go to bed at 9pm, when i got home from

work i would sit on the couch until time for bed now i can go all day

and feel great...also a lot of people that have had a thyroid problem

for a long time have stressed their adrenal glands too.

elementary kids, a Realtor (full-time), a house keeper, wife,

counselor, etc. I have 2 pets that no one else can clean up after

nor themselves! ha ha. I am too about 40 pounds over weight and I

have no thyroid function at all (on synthroid) and am always on the

run. I hear it from my kids too, but due to my thyroid, I have to

diet twice as hard, work out twice as hard in order to lose any

weight. I am looking forward to my new vegetarian diet and hope that

it will help me.

I don't know how strict everyone is in their vegetarianism, however, I

want to point out that Armour Thyroid is made from dessicated pig

thyroid (I would not go on it when my doctor wanted to prescribe it to

me, for this reason). There's another one called Nature-Throid that's

made from sheep thyroid (which was the NEXT one my doctor suggested!)

Just my 'public service announcement' of the day.

I'm about to have my thyroid removed on June 6th so I've done a bit of

research on it. I've found quite a number of people who've written that the

synthetic thyroid hormones did not " work " for them. What I plan to do is ask to

try the synthetic first but if I gain weight and have other symptoms that show

that the synthetic is not doing the job, I'll have to go with a " natural " one.

My health is too important not to. I love animals and hate to have to do it,

but I cannot tolerate becoming more overweight and the harmful effects it would

have on my general health. Martyrdom is not my thing! I'm keeping my fingers

crossed that I can use the synthetic. I still won't eat animal flesh or most

bi-products but medicine is unfortunately a necessity.
