My name is Kristina Danyeile Goff, nickname is Mammawhirl (from DH) and I am

from Kentucky. I am a 32 year old wife and mother (2 boys, Chris 10 yrs and Joe,

7-1/2 yrs)

I would like to eat vegetarian, but right now I am in the learning process. My

main reason is mainly because I have 35 pounds to lose (lost 120lbs previously

doing the 6wbmo) that I gained back from eating for comfort (i was so bad!) when

I broke my elbow and could not exercise. I just found out yesterday that I will

not get back most of the extention part of the range of motion (after 2-1/2

months of physical therapy). I have decided that it's time for a change and a

fresh start. I have always been able to leave meat, more of a veggie person.

However, because I am the cook and I am cooking for 4, it was just more

convenient to eat what they ate. I am tired of chicken and turkey (my main

proteins for the past 2 years) and would LOVE to learn to eat properly (the

right combo of grains, proteins) the veggie way! This will be a change for the

hubby and kids, because I am on my own in this, but that is all good! They will

support my endeavor like they always have!

Just wanted to thank you for the support and information beforehand! Can't wait

to learn more and start cooking this way! Woo Hoo!!!!

Welcome to our group Kristina!

Have you looked into our files for recipes and info yet? We have loads of

good stuff there! There are many delicious meals you can make your family where

they won't even notice they're not eating meat! :-)

The healthy way to eat vegetarian is lots of fresh veggies and whole grains.

It's really easy to fall into a non-healthy way of eating vegetarian, which most

of us on here have probably done at one point or another! That's why we're

looking to slim down and eat better! :-)

Ask us any questions you may have along your learning path as we have many

people here with varied experiences and different lengths of vegetarian or vegan

time under their belt!
