Guest guest
Hi Linda and welcome! Sounds like you're on the right path to losing that weight by adding more exercise into your life! That's great! I know some of our members are using the McDougall diet (is that what it is?) so if you have any questions, feel free to ask! Cindi Linda <lmmhutch wrote: Hi, Everyone! Please tell us a little about yourself so we can know you a bit better: To get you started, why not tell us: * your name or nickname: Linda * where you live (continent, region or city, whatever): Denver, Colorado, * your age group - teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s,70s, 80s or more (congratulations!)?: 50s Also: * Are you are vegetarian (or vegan), still working at it, or still thinking about it? How long?: I've been thinking about it for, I swear, 20 years, and dipped my toe into it frequently but just haven't been able to walk the walk. A couple of weeks ago I committed myself to a healthier lifestyle, and to me, that means vegetarian. I have all John McDougall's books and lots of others dealing with the veg lifestyle. Even then, I'm sure I'll cheat a little, but as long as I'm, say, 99% veg, that's OK by me. * Are you the only veggie or wannabe in your household? How many others?: A big fat zero. * Do you do the cooking or is it shared?: I do all the real cooking. For a couple of years, I have concentrated on vegetarian dishes. I won't even bother learning any new meat dishes. I've found that my husband (my one child is gone to college) is fine with a haunch of meat every night, and I just make sides to go along with it, and I eat only the sides. On the weekends I do a lot of cooking for the week, soups and casseroles, stuff like that, because I take my lunch every day, too. For example, last weekend I made Shepherd's Pie, and it's delush! >WAIT! Anything else you would like to tell us? This is your Big Chance!!!< Hmmm....need to lose 30 lbs, and I'm going in the right direction so far. I like to ride my bicycle, so I joined the Denver Bike Club a couple of years ago, and that's been fun. During one of the recent five snowstorms we've had, I joined the Colorado Mountain Club, too. I've always wanted to go hiking in the mtns, and since I have no directional sense whatsoever, I definitely need to do that with a group. Happy to be here! Linda .
