Guest guest
I noticed a lot of people marked they are on a vegetarian diet is there one out there or just eating vegetarian. I thought of joining weight watchers but being a vegetarian I find diet clubs are not always modified. I am curious is weight watchers veggie friendly? Guest guest
Hi Steph ~ Weight Watchers is very vegetarian friendly. They don't tell you which foods to eat, just how to track what you eat and make healthier choices. My partner and I are both vegetarian and both on WW; she's lost about 16 pounds and I've lost about 30 so far. Sometimes at the meeting the weekly hand-outs might have a meat theme for recipes, we just don't take it. They don't mind/say anything negative towards us. They focus on getting people to eat more fruits & vegetables, more whole grains, etc. and offer good tips to get through tough times. Some resonate with us, some don't. The website resource also has a veg recipe section as well. Anyway, I've found it very easy to adjust to vegetarian because vegetarian-friendly suggestions are given in the protein sections. I called Jenny Craig during the Christie Allie blitz and you'd have thought I were calling from Mars - they have " very little " suitable for vegetarians. If that hadn't put me off, the $20 a DAY quote for food she gave me would have! I've lent my WW cookbook with the old system in it to a friend but if anyone is interested, I'll get the name of it and post it. I see it frequently in used bookstores. Guest guest
Hi ~ Besides the " points " plan, WW also has the Core plan. Which is basically, eat all you want of core foods, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. (there's a huge list). Then you are allotted a certain amount of " extra " weekly points for items that don't fall into the Core category. From my experience, it seems most people start WW on the points plan and then switch to Core once they've gotten used to eating healthier and listening to their bodies when they're hungry or full. Being as this is my first experience with focused weight loss and also WW, I can't really compare it to their past plans but it sounds like the old way works for you, so why change it and bravo! I always wondered if those meal plans had any veg options. You confirmed my suspicion that they did not! :-) Cindi Susan Flewelling <kmm wrote: Steph - the version of Weight Watchers I try to follow is the one from 30 years or so ago that is specific on foods - i.e. one egg, one toast, etc. for breakfast - I never could get into this point system they use now - it's hard enough without having to use a calculator to figure out what one can and cat's eat.
