Guest guest
Welcome to the group Whitney! And welcome to vegetarianism. Does your husband support your change of eating habits? I'd say a move from Germany to Oklahoma City is a huge adjustment!! We have a lot of great recipes and info within our file section of the group's webpage so make sure you check it out! Guest guest
Hi Cindi! Yea the move was hard and still is hard. I have yet to make any friends here in OKC, where in Germany I had some great friends & my kids had great friends too. I just have to remind myself that it takes time! My husband is supportive, he eats what I cook (tonight, tofu stir fry, last night tofu parmesean) and he likes it OK but he will order himself & the kids meat & stuff that's cooked in meat, and part of me thinks he thinks this is a temporary " diet " rather than a conscious choice if that makes sense? But he's realizing now that I'm not a veggie to lose weight, I'm a veggie for other, much more personal reasons! The weight is still a challenge though, and always will be for me! Guest guest
Yep, it takes time. I'm sure you'll make some friends and your kids as well... That's good that he eats tofu with you! And yes, that makes sense about him thinking it's a temporary thing but it sounds like he's coming around and realizing it is a permanent thing for both your state of mind and health. I was a vegetarian before I made a conscious decision to lose weight so vegetarianism and weight loss definitely do not go hand in hand! There are a lot ways to eat a not so healthy vegetarian diet. Even before my partner and I had started WW, we made a concious effort to bring more healthy meals into our reportoire....adding WW into the mix has just made it that much easier and it makes us work a little harder to find lower cal yummy recipes for the following week. Having a year-round twice a week farmers market in town really helps on that aspect too. With the abundance of great local produce, how could we not take advantage!
