Ok, I usually only get my emails in the mornings, so I have lots of comments on

everyone else's comments from yesterday afternoon and evening!

Beano - does work well when you first change your diet over to a vegetarian

style, however, for those that are vegan's beware! Some of the bottles have

animal ingredients. So read labels!

Soda's - I quit drinking soda and all carbonation in my 20's, as a " therapist "

recommended that due to PMS on the wild side. I gave up carbonation and

caffeine on her recommendation and was able to give up the PMS and later the

therapist! (getting rid of a boyfriend got rid of the therapist!)

Portion sizes and embarrassment - Now to my way of thinking, we are here on a

vegetarian SLIMMING site. So, there should not be any judgment or criticism on

portion control. I have weighed over 200 pounds and under 100 in my adult life.

I have had long term issues with bulimia and have crossed over to the healthy

side now. I do eat a lot, McDougall has made sense to me, because like Katie, I

crave starches. I may list what I eat, but not how much! So eating like a bird

is not me. We are here to encourage each other no matter if we are stable,

losing, or sometimes gaining.

Creativity - I try so many more things now than when I ate meat. I don't miss

meat, though I have found favorites in the substitution meats, that I am now

weaning off of, mainly because they are so processed and some of the " veggie "

meats have dairy in them.

Thank you for the Banana Nut Rice recipe, looks wonderful, I can't wait to try

it.

McDougall - Sorry, should have explained that one better. I have been reading

lots and lots of his stuff. I have a few health problems I need relief from,

and 35 - 40 pounds to lose. In the short time I have been following (a bit

loosely) his program, I am feeling better and losing. So for me at least,

McDougall on!

Katie, on the cheesy sauce made from white beans, I found it internet surfing on

a low fat vegan site. I will post it later.

Meat eating vs. non meat eating in the family - my husband is not a veg. I make

all my different meals. Mostly he just eats what is in front of him. He

doesn't always like what I make. I offer to cook what he wants if he will tell

me what he wants. He doesn't. I cook. So there you have it. I think respect

for each others views and offers of compromise (my cooking meat) are necessary.

I don't enjoy cooking meat and the smell makes me nauseous. But I do it for him

WHEN and only when he asks for it. He does all sorts of things for me, like eat

each and every recipe I try!

Sorry for the long post, it was this or a dozen little ones!
