Slight Delay in Group Mail Due To Worm - from Pat

I have put all my lists/groups on temporary moderation because of the worm that

is

currently

going the rounds of and mail. You will therefore

notice

there's a bit of delay between posting a message and actually seeing it on our

list - sorry

about that -We are checking the group as often as humanly possible!

 

This critter that is attacking , is, as everyone now knows,

embedded in emails with the subject line 'New Graphics Site' - and opening the

email

activates it so that it then gobbles up your address book and regurgitates

it at will

all over the net. Bad manners! Moderation here should ensure no such thing gets

in

through *this* door ;-) Yer aunties (and uncles, as appropriate) are taking good

care of

that! (Meanwhile, of course, stuff is running very slowly across the net

as a result of

this attack on .)

 

But keep posting, won't you! We can't let this thing beat us!! LOL

I found (and thwarted) several attempts throughout my groups yesterday to pass

on the

worm. Fortunately, they were all held up in Pending Messages and I deleted

without

opening. That's when I slapped on Moderatiion. I shall take it off as soon as I

figure it's

reasonably safe ;-) Not to worry. We're wormproof here LOL But if you see 'New

Graphic

Site' anywhere, simply DELETE WITHOUT OPENING.

 

Please don't pass on worm info and lore to this group or others - it makes

things more

difficult for your moderators. If you *must* comment, please do it to

thisgroup-owner

of course filling in the proper name of the group for `thisgroup' That addy

reaches all

moderators. We can then pass on to the group any info which we feel will be

helpful.

 

Meanwhile, this owner/mod has activated a non- addy for herself for the

duration.
