I am 47 in just a few more days. I have all my life had a battle with meat. I

was frequently sick and anemic as a child and often felt pressured by Dr.s,

teachers, friend's parents, and others to eat meat in order to " be more healthy. "

I have struggled during my adult years with female problems, gastric problems,

allergies and asthma. Even though I am anemic now (red blood count 9.2) I

decided in an effort to " listen to my own body " to not eat meat, poultry, or

dairy products this year, 2006. I may have noticed a little difference in mucus

problems. Overall I am just more comfortable. I make a flaxseed, whole wheat

carrot muffin that I enjoy everyday. I have also developed a wonderful bean

soup. It is adictive! Fortunately I love vegetables. I like fruits but don't

find them convenient to eat. I make a fruit smoothie a couple of times a week

and I like that. I am trying to keep fats low and fiber high. I am about 50

pounds overweight. I don't have insurance, so

I can't afford the Advair that I think would be good for me. This means I am

in trouble with my asthma again and on prednisone pills. That is one reason I

would like to have some diet recipe ideas and some encouragement for dieting as

a vegetarian. I am of course also concerned with getting more iron due to my

low blood. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
