Guest guest
Is there a book anyone likes that gives menus for a vegetarian weight loss plan? I've been looking on Amazon at cookbooks, but not finding anything that is really a plan for weight loss. Thanks, Barb V.

One thing I've found to be helpful is to not cook several courses for a meal. I figure out what the main starch will be and then go from there. Sometimes all we have is a big pot of soup, and bread to go with it. Sometimes bread is the starch and we have sandwich fillings, or burritos with beans. In the beginning I used to to wear myself out cooking and almost gave up. For weight loss I find it helpful to have a big salad or a good serving of raw vegetables before I start in on my main starch helping for the meal. I also find it best to use whole foods and avoid processed things like burgers or fake meats. Laura
Guest guest
Thanks Laura, I'll go look up McDougall. Meanwhile I joined the " Anne Collins " online diet - there was a vegetarian menu plan. I'm pretty happy with that so far since it has forums and they are quite active. It seems that the friendly cheerleading could be a big help. I was thinking about eDiets - but wow - is that expensive! Make sure that you read the fine print - you can't sign up for one month - it's a minimum of three months and there are some hoops to jump thru in order to cancel!! I'll let yall know how well the Anne Collins' menus work for me. The one big problem is that I need to avoid anything with wheat in it. This morning I had two Van's All Natural Wheat-Free Apple Cinnamon waffles with Smucker's Sugar Free, Low-Calorie syrup - and they were both great! I was really expecting that nasty no sugar taste - but both things were very good. Two waffles (toaster size) were 189 calories, and 1/4 cup of the syrup only 20 calories. Total carbs 40. Has anyone tried GeniSoy Soy Crisps? A nice alternative to potatoe chips, and a protein source to boot. Barb V.
