Great! - all sorts of expertise on this list :-)

> Is this group especially low-fat per [Dr Ornish's] suggestion?

No, just as our homepage says - low-fat. We don't follow Ornish or McDougall or

anyone

else, although some members do follow specific weightloss plans - even belong to

other

weightloss groups - as well as being members of this group.

>thought that it was

> 'just' vegetarians + weight loss.

No. It's on the Homepage. Low-fat ;-) Some members are also vegan or as close to

vegan

as the world allows. And some veg*ns are here not to lose weight but to maintain

their

weight loss through continued healthy eating.

>Weight loss is also composed of

> portion control and exercise

That too. I personally use portion control and exercise as well as cutting down

on fats of

all kinds. Others find their own way of controlling their weight ;-) Not all

members are

able to exercise of course, so they have to manage their weight by

calorie-/portion-

control only.

>I didn't realize that everyone here was

> aiming for <10% dietary fat at all times. (?)

Not at all. Although some might, and that's fine. Others use no fat whatsoever

in their

cooking, either from choice or necessity.

About my suggestions for non-boring low-fat vegetarian dishes, you responded:

> I'm a very lazy cook. ;)

A shake of herbs and adroit mixes of various vegetable flavours does not require

Iron Chef

skills or sweat! LOL But you know, it's all in how you look at these things.

When all one

eats is vegetables plus grains, beans, etc. (with or without eggs and dairy) you

get pretty

creative very very quickly! Well, I did. Such wonderful flavours out there!

>No, I am not a vegetarian now. (I'm weak at

> times. LOL)

Sorry to hear that. Well this discussion about low-fat veg*n, Ornish, etc., is

just academic,

then, isn't it?

>I just bought a book called " The Vegetarian Mother's

> Cookbook " , and I'm hoping that will offer some more options.

Don't know it. But there are some wonderful books out there - and wonderful

recipe sites

and blogs. If you return to vegetarianism you will discover that the boredom is

in eating

me*t and two veg, not in eating vegetarian! But . . .

> BTW, Pat, I don't remember if I asked before...what are you a doctor of? ;)

PhD - not medical.

Okay, hon - gotta go and find some caffeine. Big hugs.

love, pat
