Guest guest Posted January 15, 2002 Report Share Posted January 15, 2002 * Exported from MasterCook * Steamed Shiitake Wontons Recipe By :Jennifer Snyder Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 pound fresh shiitake -- (1 1/3 cups) stems removed, cut into pieces 1/4 cup green onions -- minced 1 teaspoon low-sodium soy sauce 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger root -- grated 1/4 teaspoon honey 1 clove garlic -- minced 24 round wonton skins -- found in Asian food stores DIPPING SAUCE: 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce 1 teaspoon sesame oil 2 teaspoons white vinegar 1 teaspoon sugar several drops Chinese hot pepper oil -- to taste DIPPING SAUCE: mix all ingredients together WONTONS: Place shiitake pieces in a food processor with green onions, soy sauce, ginger, honey, and garlic. Turn the processor on and off until finely chopped. In the center of each wonton skin, place one teaspoon of filling. Moisten the outer edge of the wonton with water so edges will stick together. To make the wonton look like a flower, pleat the edges. Steam the wontons over boiling water for 10 minutes. Serve with the dipping sauce.
