Guest guest Posted January 4, 2002 Report Share Posted January 4, 2002 * Exported from MasterCook * Tomatillo Relish Recipe By : Vegetarian Celebrations by Nava Atlas, page 202 Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Side Dishes Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 26 ounces canned tomatillos 1 clove garlic -- minced 1 small onion -- minced 1/2 medium green or red bell pepper -- minced 1 minced jalapeno peppers -- to taste, up to 2 2 tablespoons minced cilantro or fresh parsley -- up to 3 1/2 lime -- to taste , Juice of up to 1 1/2 teaspoon salt -- or to taste freshly ground pepper Makes about 2 cups Tomatillos resemble small green tomatoes and are members of the berry family. Their flavor is very distinct, though not hot. Tomatillos are available in cans from Spanish and Mexican groceries and gourmet specialty shops. Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir together. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving to allow the flavors to blend. Transfer to a shallow serving bowl to serve.
