Guest guest Posted December 31, 2001 Report Share Posted December 31, 2001 I had a sandwich at a restaurant today -- they called it " the incredible grilled eggplant sandwich " the restaurant -- being californian -- grilled white thick sour dough bread everything was thinly sliced -- 1/8 or 1/6 inch -- mandolin? -- 1) onion, eggplant, salt, pepper were grilled (translation - fried on a grill top) together in oil. 2) separately grilled until warmed were : a canned roasted green chile pepper thinly sliced tomatoes the whole thin was assembled with fresh cilantro on the bread, with monterey jack cheese. grilled. it was awsome -- until it cooled. so eat fast. it was enough to feed two.
