Powdered Sugar Glaze

Recipe By : The (Almost) No Fat Holiday Cookbook, by Grogan, page 143

Serving Size : 16 Preparation Time :0:00

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

1 cup powdered sugar

(icing or confectioner's sugar)

OR Powdered Turbinado Sugar

OR Powdered Granulated Sugar Cane Juice

(see separate recipe)

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla or other flavor extract

1 1/2 tablespoons soymilk

(you can use juice for different flavor)

Makes enough for 1 cake or loaf

White cane sugar is always bleached with beef bone ash (beet sugar is not),

so if you are a vegetarian and you aren't sure what kind of sugar is

available, you may prefer to use turbinado sugar, a light, beige sugar

which is steam-cleaned; or granulated sugar cane juice. You can powder it

yourself in a blender (see separate recipe for Powdered Turbinado Sugar).

In a bowl or food processor, mix together the ingredients to make a thick,

smooth, spreadable icing. For a thin glaze, spread it on hot cake or

bread. For a thicker glaze, spread it on after the cake or bread has cooled.
