Guest guest Posted December 30, 2001 Report Share Posted December 30, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * Powdered Sugar Glaze Recipe By : The (Almost) No Fat Holiday Cookbook, by Grogan, page 143 Serving Size : 16 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 cup powdered sugar (icing or confectioner's sugar) OR Powdered Turbinado Sugar OR Powdered Granulated Sugar Cane Juice (see separate recipe) 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla or other flavor extract 1 1/2 tablespoons soymilk (you can use juice for different flavor) Makes enough for 1 cake or loaf White cane sugar is always bleached with beef bone ash (beet sugar is not), so if you are a vegetarian and you aren't sure what kind of sugar is available, you may prefer to use turbinado sugar, a light, beige sugar which is steam-cleaned; or granulated sugar cane juice. You can powder it yourself in a blender (see separate recipe for Powdered Turbinado Sugar). In a bowl or food processor, mix together the ingredients to make a thick, smooth, spreadable icing. For a thin glaze, spread it on hot cake or bread. For a thicker glaze, spread it on after the cake or bread has cooled.
