Guest guest
* Exported from MasterCook * Healthy Chips (Fries) Recipe By :Rose Elliot Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 12 ounces potatoes -- 2 1/2 cups 1 teaspoon olive oil Preheat the oven to 450F, and put a baking sheet or large roasting tn - non-stick ones are good for these, or very lightly grease them if you do not have nonstick ones and are worried about the fries sticking - near the top of the oven. Scrub or peel the potatoes and cut them into thick, chunky fries. Rinse them under cold running water, drain, and pat dry. Sprinkle the oil over the chips, turning them with your hands so that they are all coated with the oil. Put the fries on the heated baking sheet or in the tin in a single layer. Bake for about 20 minutes, then turn the fries and cook for another 20-30 minutes - turning them again if possible - until they are golden brown and crisp all over. Make sure you cook them for long enough so they are cooked all the way through. Serve immediately. NOTES : If you make them this way and serve them as a main course, with a good greeen salad and some grated carrot, you need never feel guilty about eating chips (fries) ever again. In spite of the small quantity of oil used, they are crisp and delicious. Nutr. Assoc. : 0
