Braise the onions for 3 minutes, then add the pepper, carrots, and celery and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat. Add the mushrooms, then cover the pan and cook an additional 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the tomatoes, kidney beans, paprika, pepper, and soy sauce, then cover and cook 10 to 15 minutes. Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling water until just tender. Rinse and drain, then add it to the vegetable mixture. Nutrition information per 1-1/2 - cup serving: 147 calories, 6.5 grams protein, 29 grams carbohydrate, 0.4 grams fat, 2 percent of calories from fat, 0 milligrams of cholesterol, 137 milligrams sodium.
