Please correct a recipe I just sent for Microwaved Tomato Rice Soup. It listed

V8 in the ingredient section. Just delete that row. Thank you.

This recipe did not mention cooking the turnips, carrots and garlic with any

water. I added that. that was odd... 1985 book. I cannot find any reference in

this book to wattage. The standard today is around 700watts. Just thought I'd

pass along the info.

Categories : Soups And Stews

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

1 cup chopped turnips -- (1/2-inch cubes)

1/2 cup julienned carrots -- (2x1/8-inch)

1 clove garlic -- minced

1 tablespoon water -- or more

2 cups shredded lettuce

1 cup bean sprouts

6 ounces frozen pea pods

3 cups hot water

2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce

1 tablespoon low-sodium bouillon granules -- your flavor choice

1/4 teaspoon sesame oil

1/8 teaspoon white pepper

1/8 teaspoon ground ginger

In 2-quart casserole, combine turnips, carrots and garlic. Add 1 to 2

tablespoons of water. Cover tightly. Microwave at HIGH for 6 to 7 minutes, or

until tender. Add remaining ingredients. Cover. Microwave at HIGH for 10 to 15

minutes longer, or until hot and lettuce is wilted, stirring after half the time

to break apart pea pods.

VARIATION:

* replace lettuce with napa cabbage

* replace ground ginger with a thin slice of fresh ginger; remove before

serving.

* use pea pods with sliced waterchestnuts

* garnish with fresh cilantro
