Guest guest
Bought this book this weekend. It's full title is the vegetarian homestyle cooking: a guide to heart-healthy lowfat eating I've not tested any of the recipes. Not sure how this one would taste. I have made similar -- it's the onion that I wonder about -- cook for " a minute " -- might be a burpy sauce. I'd taste the onion before making the sauce. * Exported from MasterCook * Basic White Sauce for Pasta Recipe By :Jeanne Tiberio Serving Size : 5 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Lowfat Pasta Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 small onion -- finely chopped 1/2 cup white wine 2 tablespoons light cream cheese preferably garlic or herb-flavored 1 1/2 tablespoons flour 1 1/4 cups lowfat 1% milk 1/4 teaspoon salt dash white pepper -- or black pepper Gather the ingredients on your counter so that you may add them quickly. The sauce thickens quickly. The pasta should be started or cooked and waiting. In a saucepan, simmer the onion in the wine for a minute. Add the cream cheese while stirring. Then sprinkle the flour over the mixture, still stirring, as the cheese melts. Add milk and seasoning; then continue stirring over medium heat until the sauce thickens to the desired consistency.
