Guest guest Posted November 21, 2001 Report Share Posted November 21, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * Hawaiian Chicken Sandwiches Recipe By :Steven Ferry & Tanya Petrovna Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1/3 cup water 1 clove garlic -- finely chopped 3 tablespoons olive oil 4 4 oz patties tempeh 2/3 cup celery 1/3 cup Nayonaise 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon white pepper 1/4 cup pecans or walnuts 12 pineapple rings -- fresh, if available 2 tablespoons maple syrup 12 slices whole grain raisin bread -- or other bread Combine soy sauce, water, and chopped garlic. Let sit about 5 minutes. Heat olive oil to medium high in a skillet. Fry patties until golden (5 minutes one side and 3 minutes on other). When the second side is nearly done, add soy mixture and cook until liquid has almost evaporated, then turn and allow other side to absorb the remainder of the liquid. Continue cooking until patties are slightly crispy. Cube patties and combine with remaining ingredients (except bread) in a large mixing bowl. Blend thoroughly. Spread this mixture on bread. Cut in half diagonally and use toothpicks to serve.
