Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Noodles and Pasta Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 tablespoon polyunsaturated oil 1/2 cup finely chopped onion 5 ounces lowfat cheddar cheese -- finely grated 1/2 cup whole wheat bread crumbs 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh sage pinch ground nutmeg pinch dry mustard salt and black pepper 1 egg -- beaten 1 egg -- for wash 2 tablespoons lowfat 1% milk 2 tablespoons rolled oats whole wheat spaghetti Heat the oil and saute the onion until soft. Allow to cool. Mix the onion with the cheese, breadcrumbs, herbs, nutmeg, mustard and seasonings. Combine with the beaten egg. Shape the mixture into balls. Whisk the egg and milk lightly. Dip the balls in the egg wash and coat with the rolled oats. Shallow fry until lightly brown and then bake at 425F for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve with a dip, such as a garlic mayonnaise, or to make a more substantial dish, serve with whole-wheat spaghetti in a curry sauce.
