Dried Pears And Apples

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

3 Bosc pears -- with peel on

cut into 1/8-to 1/4-inch-thick slices

3 tart apples -- with peel on

and cut into 1/8-to 1/4-inch-thick slices

1 tablespoon sugar

 

Serves 6.

 

Fall fruit, once dried, makes a delicious snack for lunch boxes.

 

Arrange pears and apples on several large baking sheets lined with

parchment paper. Sprinkle with sugar.

 

Dry in oven at 225 degrees 21/2 hours or until fruit is firm, chewy and

shriveled around edges. Cool. Store in self-sealing plastic bags in

refrigerator up to 3 weeks.
