Applesauce

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

2 cups water

8 apples -- up to 10

peeled and sliced

1/4 cup barley malt -- (optional)

1 pinch sea salt

 

Place water, apples, barley malt and sea salt in a pot and bring to a

boil. Reduce flame to low and simmer until apples are soft. Purée apples

and cooking water in a hand food mill. For sweeter applesauce, cook a

little longer so that the sauce becomes thick. Applesauce cooked without

barley malt makes a good breakfast dish.
