Chick Pea Soup

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 cup chick peas -- soaked 6-8 hours

1 kombu strip -- 6-8 inches long

soaked and cut into 1-inch squares

1 cup onions -- diced

5 cups water

sea salt

 

Place chick peas, kombu, and onions in a pressure cooker. Add water and

place cover on pressure cooker. Turn flame to high and bring cooker up to

pressure. Reduce flame to medium-low and cook for 1 hour.

 

Remove cooker from flame and allow pressure to come down. Remove cover and

season with a little sea salt for a mild taste. Simmer several minutes

longer. Place soup in individual serving bowls and garnish with chopped

scallions or parsley.
