Fried Tempeh With Ginger

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 cups onions

cut into half-moons

1 pound tempeh

cut into 1-inch cubes

1 tablespoon juice from freshly grated ginger

dark sesame oil

water

tamari

 

Heat a small amount of dark sesame oil in a skillet. Sauté onions for 2-3

minutes over fairly high flame, stirring constantly. Add tempeh and sauté

for 1-2 minutes. Add enough water to half cover onions and tempeh; add

ginger juice and cover skillet. Reduce flame to medium-low and cook for 25

minutes. Season with a small amount of tamari and simmer several minutes

longer. Remove cover, turn flame up slightly, and cook until all water has

evaporated. Mix onions and tempeh together and place in a serving bowl.
