This is off-topic, but it is food related, and I'm posting it with

Karen's permission. By dining at a participating restaurant on Oct

11, you will contribute to the Windows of Hope fund.

As you may know, Michael Lomonaco*, the executive chef of Windows on

the World restaurant (that was atop one the WTC towers) was spared on

Sept 11. Because he was attending a task with his eye glasses, he was

not in the restaurant at the time of the attack. However, 80 of his

employees were lost, along with many other food service workers in

the WTC towers.

Michael and others have started the Windows of Hope fund to aid the

families of the food-service victims. On October 11, this Thursday,

participating restaurants around the world will donate at least 10%

of their evening proceeds to this fund. Visit

http://www.windowsofhope.org/ to find the details and participating

restaurants in your area.

You may, of course, also contribute directly to the fund.

Ellen

* Michael Lomonaco is also the co-host of the Epicurious show on

Discovery channel, and is frequently a guest on several Food TV

programs.
