I don't understand Brewer's Yeast Flakes. Where can I get it, and is it any

relation to the yeast we use to make bread? How does it function in a seasoning

blend?

Hi, Diane!

Brewer's yeast and nutritional yeast are 2 different types of yeast that

are not the same type of yeast that we use for making breads -- they do

not cause bread to rise. Instead, they are used for flavor or

nutritional supplements as they are both rich in B vitamins.

Supposedly, the Red Star brand of nutritional yeast also contains a

useable form of B-12.

They are often used to make a " cheesy " or " nutty " type flavor to foods.
