Guest guest Posted September 4, 2001 Report Share Posted September 4, 2001 untested by me * Exported from MasterCook * Onion Gravy Recipe By :TriColor Diet by Martin Katahn Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Condiments Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 teaspoon sesame oil 2 teaspoons water 1 onion -- chopped 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 cup water -- divided 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1. In a small saucepan combine the oil and 2 teaspoons of water. 2. Add the onion and saute, partially covered, over medium heat, stirring often, until onions are translucent and are just barely starting to brown. 3. Add the spices and soy sauce. 4. Add water, reserving 2 tablespoons. 5. Cook, covered, until the onions are tender. 6. Combine the cornstarch with the reserved water and blend. 7. Add to the onions and cook until the gravy thickens. Yield: About 1 1/2 cups gravy; serving size is 1/4 cup.
