Guest guest Posted August 31, 2001 Report Share Posted August 31, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * Very Blackberry Cake Recipe By :James Mays Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 2/3 cup corn syrup 4 cups pastry flour 1 3/4 cups blackberries 1 1/4 cups berry juice 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon allspice 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons cider vinegar Preheat oven to 350F. Cream together first 3 ingredients iin a bowl. Add everything, except the vinegar, mix well and pour into two greased 8 " square Pyrex dishes. Now quickly stir in the vinegar. Batter will bubble and look swirly. As soon as the vinegar is folded in, bake for one hour.
