Guest guest Posted August 23, 2001 Report Share Posted August 23, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook Mac * Oatmeal Crust Recipe By : Heart of the Home, Ann Jackson (1995) p37 Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Pies & Casseroles Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- Oatmeal Crust: 1 1/2 cups oats 3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup margarine - safflower oil or sesame oil 1/2 cup cold water Yield one 9-inch pie. 6-8 servings. Roast oats over a low flame until they are lightly browned and you can smell them. Mix the oats in a bowl with the flour and salt. Add oil and stir well with a fork. Add water a little at a time. Let sit about 20 mintues then add pumpmkin or squash. Bake whole pie at 350F for about 30 minutes. An oatmeal pie crust is good with most any fruit or vegetable pie. P.S. 1 or 2 tablespoons dark rum is a good additiona to pumpkin pie; add with vanilla.
