Let it get hot and add the potatoes, then cabbage and turnips. Add about 1 cup water -- enough to keep it from sticking, but not to be like soup. Cover and simmer about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. use a heat diffuser if necessary, and also add small amounts of water if too much evaporation is occuring. Slice tofu or tempeh into a skillet and brown in oil and tamari. Add to pot the last ten minutes of cooking time, or serve as a side dish with the boiled dinner. Either is very good. this begs for a nice hot bread of any kind and nothing more. Well...maybe a Guinness or a Harp... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Per serving (excluding unknown items): 1648 Calories; 5g Fat (3% calories from fat); 51g Protein; 371g Carbohydrate; 0mg Cholesterol; 570mg Sodium Food Exchanges: 17 Starch/Bread; 21 Vegetable _____
