Lemon Broil Tempeh

2 8 oz packages tempeh

2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 tablespoons Bragg's or tamari

1/2 pound tofu

4 tablespoons nutritional yeast

2 tablespoons sweet relish

2 tablespoons water

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

4 tablespoons lemon juice

2 tablespoons Bragg's or tamari

dash onion powder

1 tablespoon oil -- (optional) 1-2

 

Serves 2 to 3. Steam the 2 cakes of tempeh (in a steamer basket) about 5-10

minutes until they puff up. Cut each piece in half, down the center. Carefully

cut each piece in half again, through the middle, to end up with 8 pieces.

 

Marinate the tempeh in 2 tablespoons lemon juice and 2 tablespoons Bragg's.

 

In a blender or food processor, blend the remaining ingredients, beginnining

with the tofu.

 

Dip and thoroughly coat each piece of tempeh in this batter.

 

Place each piece on an oiled baking sheet and bake in a 350F preheated oven

until the coating turns golden brown.
