Broccoli with Pumpkin Seed-Walnut Sauce

1 1/2 pounds broccoli, cut into bite-size pieces

1/4 cup walnut pieces

1/4 cup shelled pumpkin seeds

1/4 cup water, or more

2 1/2 teaspoons tamari or soy sauce, reduced-sodium or

regular

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/8 teaspoon pepper

 

In a medium saucepan with a steamer insert, steam broccoli over boiling water

for 5 to 7 minutes, until tender.

 

In a small skillet over medium-high heat, toast walnuts and pumpkin seeds for 2

to 3 minutes, until fragrant. Transfer to a food processor and let cool

slightly. Pulse several times, until nuts are coarsely ground. Add remaining

ingredients to food processor, and process to a thick puree, adding more water,

if needed. Pour sauce over broccoli.
