Tomato-Basil Sauce

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil

2 garlic cloves -- minced

salt and pepper -- to taste

1/2 can crushed tomatoes -- drained

SIZE OF CAN - 28 ounces (whole/entire can)

1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil

 

*This recipe calls for 1/2-can (28 oz. / 793 g) crushed tomatoes. After

measuring half, freeze the rest for the next time you need them.

 

Warm the oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté, stirring

continuously, for about 2 minutes, or until slightly browned. Season with salt

and pepper. Add the tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes, stirring often. Add the

tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes, stirring often. Add the basil and stir well.

 

To serve: Pour over hot pasta and serve immediately.

This is a great simple sauce that's good over all kinds of pasta.
