Guest guest
Just came back from Stockholm - and proved all my friends' warnings " full of seafood, nothing for vegetarians to eat " wrong! Thanks for us vegetarian tourists' demands (presumably Americans & British), you go to any restaurants, cafes, shops and find beautiful veggie dishes and fresh salads. We often talk about the prices in Scandinavian countries, but I found them generally cheaper in Stockholm than in London, where I live. People are cheerful and prepared to speak English any time. I was really impressed. My favourite traditional Swedish restaurant was called " Von der Lindeska Valven " , Västerlånggatan 68, Gamla Stan, Stockholm (TEL: 08-411-55-38), who has a lovely vegetarian set menu for about £6 (US$10), you can choose your seat either inside with romantic candles or cool & refreshing outside table. If anyone goes to Stockholm, worth a try. And there were plenty of other Scandinavian, Italian, Chinese restaurants etc, who all serve lovely dishes for us. There's no tipping system in that country (prices include the service charges). The only thing that disappointed me was the meals on the aeroplane - SAS (Scandinavian Air Services) - somehow veggie meals were quite plain and ordinary (well, it was like 2 portions of side salads). But again I was impressed by the efficiency of their customer service. I love Scandinavia now, just wanted to tell everyone that. Thanks for us vegetarian tourists' demands .... I was really impressed. I'm packed and ready to go. Bob (DH) went to meetings in Stockholm about 12 years ago now... and he was NOT NOT NOT impressed with the food. The other thing that probably influenced the change was the immigration policy. So nice to know we'd find more restaurants today and more choices.
