Guest guest
Hi all! After almost 10 years of devoted low/no fat choices, I have finally had to admit that something's wrong. Over the past three years, I've had a steady, 10lb a year weight gain. My eating habits aren't different, and I'm not making " bad " choices, but something's just askew. I've undergone a battery of unrelated tests which show I'm healthier than any horse that ever lived, right down to endocrinology work. So my primary and gyno sent me to the (same) dietician! I just came from her office, where she has concurred that my choices are good, and my life style choices support lower weight, but I'm just not " grouping things " right. She has suggested I look at portion control (which is WAY out of whack) and work with the Diabetic Exchanges for portioning. She's also suggested I add more protein (since I'm a carb QUEEN!), make breakfast heavier, and don't have my usual pasta dinner at 8:00- 10:00pm, but rather perhaps for lunch. So.... getting to the point, does anyone have a link to more information on Exchanges? or perhaps a reading recommendation? I'm looking for something where I can look up " cabbage " and find it's exchange values. Or perhaps " Steamed vegetarian dumplings " and see that I can have two -- something like that. I appreciate the suggestions! Thanks, Christine
