Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

6 to 8 baking apples -- cored and peeled or unpeeled

1/3 cup apple juice or orange juice

1/3 to 1/2 cup maple syrup, fruit concentrate, or other

liquid sweetener

1/4 to 1/3 cup rolled oats

1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon

several dashes each ginger, nutmeg, and

sea salt

1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

1/4 to 1/2 cup raisins or currants (optional)

Preheat the oven to 350F. Cut the apples into quarters, then cut each quarter

into 4 to 5 chunks. Place the pieces evenly in a lightly oiled, shallow 9 " or

10 " glass or enamel baking dish. (Do not use a metal pan!) Pour the juice and

liquid sweetener evenly over the apples. Then sprinkle on the oats and spices.

Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until the apples are as tender as you like them.

Only add the nuts and/or dried fruit during the last 10 minutes of baking time

for the best flavor and to insure they are not overcooked and burnt. Enjoy this

easy dessert or snack often.
